Mission statement The Cancer Histology Core is a non-profit, research-oriented resource core
supported by the Abramson Cancer Center. It offers all histology-related services to all members of the Abramson Cancer Center with
high quality, low cost, fast turnout, and easy interaction.
Service will be open to all life sciences investigators at Penn, but priority
will be given to full members of the Abramson Cancer Center.
Announcement
As indicated several months ago, the 5th floor Histo-Pathology Core will close, effective June 1, 2017.
Because of this, no new samples can be submitted to the core after Monday, May 22, 2017.
An important consideration is what to do with the large number of archived blocks of paraffin-embedded tissue material.
Everyone will have until July 1st to retrieve blocks that they think they will need. After that, any left-over material will need
to be discarded as the space on the 5th floor is being reconfigured for a new faculty member.
Please consider very carefully what paraffin-embedded tissue blocks you want returned to your laboratory,
and the current members of the core will make the material available to you.
